About Rob James

Rob James is a seasoned board-level technology executive with over three decades of diverse experience in IT, telecommunications, retail, gaming, entertainment, trading, and airlines, managing budgets of up to $700 million annually.

Rob led comprehensive digital and technological strategies as the former Group Chief Digital & Information Officer at TPG Telecom Ltd, a top ASX 30 company.

His prior roles include Group CTO at Qantas Ltd, where he oversaw technology for all sectors, including International, Domestic, Loyalty, and Jetstar, as well as leadership positions at William Hill Australia and Star Entertainment Ltd.

Beyond his executive roles, Rob has demonstrated a commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders. He actively contributed as a mentor in the UNSW Hero Program and served on the UTS Program Advisory Board, shaping courseware to meet industry needs. He has also provided personal coaching to CTOs and CIOs at significant firms like Qantas and Vodafone.

Beyond his executive roles, Rob has demonstrated as Recognised as one of Australia's top CIOs, he was voted No. 8 CIO in Australia in 2016 and Top 50 in 2021 by CIO Magazine. He received the 2016 EGR Gaming Award for Innovation of the Year for Australia's first and only In-Play betting product. In 2012, he was awarded for Innovation by Process World for delivering "electronic chip purchase vouchers," a groundbreaking innovation in the Casino industry.
